Third youth title! EC VSV are Austrian Cham­pions of the ÖEHV U15 Cham­pi­onship

After a narrow 4:3 win and a 7:4 victory, Villach travelled to Lower Austria with a 2:0 series lead. SG Okanagan Hockey Academy/Lower Austria Stars reduced the deficit to 1:2 in the best-of-five series with a 3:2 win on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Villach side coached by Head Coach Luka Pogačnik meant business: Leif Erd (3rd, 15th) gave them a 2:0 lead after the first period.

Fabian Kellner (23rd) made the game exciting early in the second period, but VSV were fully alert after Lower Austria’s goal and, halfway through the game, pulled away to 4:1 within 35 seconds thanks to two shorthanded goals from Anton Wandaller and Felix Dabringer (33rd). Shortly afterwards, Lorenz Kircher increased the lead to 5:1 and set the course for the championship title (34th). 

Florian Seiwald sealed the outcome after just 13 seconds of the final period (41st). Yehor Tatarchenko could only add a consolation goal for the hosts (51st). EC VSV’s U15 celebrated a 6:2 victory, won the best-of-five series 3:1 and are Austrian Champions of the ÖEHV U15 Championship 2023/2024.
