Register now for the Vienna sports instructor training course

For both women and men, the training and continuing education guidelines of the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation (ÖEHV) provide for the so-called sports instructor training course as the 1st level of coaching education. This theoretical and practical-methodological training consists of two modules, with the first module serving as the basis for all specialist modules. 

With the support of the Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Foundation, the entire ice hockey sports instructor training course (both modules!) is being offered for the first time in Austria as a single organisational block. In addition, the Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Foundation will cover the full training costs for 2 participants from each partner club. 

Venue: All programme items of both modules will take place at the Steffl Arena, Atemsgasse 1, 1220 Vienna.

Dates: 

Module 1 – Basic Sports Instructor Module, 12–13 April 2025, 09:00–19:00 each day 

• 21 teaching units: sports biology, training theory, sports organisation, socio-political aspects of sport, legal principles relating to liability and duty of supervision
• Examination: multiple-choice test (1 unit, 45 min), Friday, 25 April 18:00, Steffl Arena 

Module 2 – Specialist Ice Hockey Sports Instructor Module, 30 April 2025, 07:00–20:30; 01 May 2025, 07:00–18:00 

• 25 teaching units: ice hockey-specific fundamentals, technique, goaltending, differences between youth and adults, practical sessions on the ice
• Examination: practical teaching demonstration as part of the module 

Organisational information: 

• Minimum age: 16 years
• The basic module is delivered by the ASKÖ WAT regional association for Vienna. The relevant terms and conditions of participation must be acknowledged during online registration.
• The specialist module is delivered in cooperation between NÖELV and WEHV. Full ice hockey equipment must be brought for the practical sessions on the ice.
• After successfully completing both modules and submitting proof of attendance at a first-aid course (no more than 3 years old), an application can be made to ÖEHV for the sports instructor ID card to be issued. Successful completion of the sports instructor training course is a basic requirement for participation in further instructor training courses. 

Participation fees: 

Participation is FREE for up to a specified number of players of the Vienna Capitals and 2 participants per partner club of the Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Foundation. However, if registered participants fail to attend, the deposit payment of 100,-- will be retained as a cancellation fee, as for all full-fee participants (no-show policy).

Registration options: 

• Both modules are each intended for a limited number of participants.
• Participants who have already completed one of the two modules may, of course, register only for the module they still require.
• Course places will only be allocated after completing the online REGISTRATION and transferring a deposit of € 100.--.
• This deposit is required for all registrations without exception. However, participants supported by the Pho3nix Vienna Capitals Youth Foundation will be reimbursed this deposit after taking part in the training course.
• Registration for the basic module requires acceptance of the ASKÖ-WAT-Wien terms and conditions of participation and its data protection provisions.
