Hockey is Diversity – Training and workshop programme under way

Since autumn 2023, the Austrian Ice Hockey Association and "Hockey is Diversity" have been working closely together. As part of the cooperation, training sessions and workshops have been held since this spring with the various ÖEHV national teams, as well as in coach education and continuing professional development.

Since 2010, Hockey is Diversity has been passionately committed to making ice hockey a place that welcomes people from all backgrounds and fosters an open community. The organisation has successfully implemented numerous projects and has now become Europe’s leading initiative advocating an inclusive welcoming culture in ice hockey.

The collaboration makes it possible to pool resources, experience and expertise in order to develop innovative programmes and measures that promote diversity in ice hockey and break down prejudice. By fostering an inclusive environment, both organisations aim to ensure that every ice hockey enthusiast has the opportunity to fulfil their full potential and be part of an open and supportive community.

The first training sessions and workshops were held at the beginning of May as part of the instructors’ course and the Coaches Clinic. The off-ice training camps for the women’s national teams followed at the end of May. The men’s U15 to U20 teams will follow in the summer.

HOCKEY IS DIVERSITY e.V. (HiD) is a non-profit association actively committed to combating racism, right-wing extremism and discrimination, and to promoting an inclusive welcoming culture in ice hockey. The non-profit association was founded in 2010 by former DEL player Dr Martin Hyun and Peter Goldbach.
