As a league spanning several countries, the Alps Hockey League has also faced challenging times in recent months in order to enable an orderly league operation for the upcoming 2020/21 season – taking into account all country-specific Covid-19 guidelines.

"The clubs clearly communicated their desire to play at every stage. We took this request very seriously and made every effort to make a 20/21 season possible," reports Matjaz Rakovec, President of the Alps Hockey League. The team officials were in constant contact with the regional authorities, incorporating requirements and restrictions into their individual "Return-2-Play" concepts. "The clubs and their officials deserve great praise: they have shown tremendous commitment in these uncertain times to make a season possible at 16 venues."

The exceptional situation surrounding the pandemic made it necessary to supplement and extend the existing regulations governing the Alps Hockey League. For this reason, the league organisation, on behalf of the Board of Governors, introduced an addendum for the "Appendix Covid-19" Gamebook on behalf of the Board of Governors, entitled "Appendix Covid-__OEHV_NUM_G_A__".
