Zell am See secure first place in the Master Round with come­back

Zell am See continued their successful run, with the league leaders also winning their sixth game in the Master Round on Tuesday. However, it did not initially look that way in the home game against Ritten. The South Tyroleans led 3:0 in the 16th minute through goals from Alex Oberrauch, Sebastiano Soracreppa and Robert Öhler. In front of more than 2.000 spectators, the hosts pulled one back before the first intermission through a power-play goal from Matt McLeod.

After the Salzburg side added another goal in the middle period, a spectacular third period followed. Zell am See turned the game in their favour, with Robin Johansson's brace even giving them a 5:3 lead. Ritten pulled within one goal in the final minute, but the hosts celebrated a 5:4 victory. The Pinzgau side also secured victory in the Master Round and will enter the playoffs as the top-seeded team.

The second game of the day also produced a comeback win. Cortina led 2:0 at home against Kitzbühel after the first period thanks to two power-play goals. The visitors also scored on the power play in the middle period, but Mikael Saha immediately restored the two-goal advantage. After Kitzbühel pulled within one goal before the second intermission, they turned the game in their favour in the third period. Johannes Tschurnig, Jakob Engelhart and Anthony DeLuca scored within 100 seconds to make it 3:5. Chris Schutz eventually made the final score 6:3. For the Tyroleans, who moved up to second place in the standings, it was already their fourth win over the Italians this year.
