Youth championships enter the home straight

The first youth championship title will be decided in the U11 this weekend. Bronze is up for grabs in the U20i and U18i. The final series in both age categories also get under way at the same time. The semi-final series are coming up in the U17, U15 and U13.

Eishockey Akademie Oberösterreich prevailed 4:3 in a dramatic fifth game against EC Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday evening after a penalty shootout to reach the U20i final. As in the semi-final, the Upper Austrians will begin the best-of-five series away to Ujpesti Jegkorong Akademia. In the CHL format, the Jungbullen and Nordic Hockey Academy will contest 3rd place on Saturday and Sunday.

The U18i features a dream final from an Austrian perspective, with EC Red Bull Salzburg reaching the final to face EC-KAC for the title. Salzburg have home advantage at the start of the best-of-five series this weekend.

The upcoming semi-final series in the U17, U15 and U13 age groups will be played in a best-of-three format.

The final tournament series in the U11 concludes this weekend, after which the champion will also be crowned. EC-KAC "rot" are currently in 1st place, followed by EC iDM VSV and HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie.
