YOG: Looking forward to opening game against Great Britain

“It is something completely different. It is a huge community and the atmosphere is good,” reports Ben Öfner from the Olympic Village. “You see and meet different countries and cultures. Life in the village is very cool,” adds team-mate Simon Cseh.

After arriving in South Korea on Monday, the team initially worked off ice and focused on getting over the jet lag quickly. Over the past two days, they have finally had their first ice sessions. The team is delighted with the arena, Ben Öfner says: “The arena is huge, really beautiful.”

Now they can hardly wait for it to finally get under way, Simon Cseh says: “The first game, especially at such a major tournament, is always something special. It will be a really cool event.” The Carinthian also immediately sets the tone for the opener: “We want to claim our first win against Great Britain.

Head Coach Florian Mühlstein certainly sees his players as ready for the opener: “The team is fit and ready. We have worked hard recently to shake off the jet lag, get ourselves going and once again place a real emphasis on physical readiness. We want to play power hockey, make a lot of plays with the puck, support each other, play attractively and quickly, and get the puck to the net fast. Then we will see what comes of it. We take it one day at a time and are delighted that it is finally getting under way.”
