YOG: Austria narrowly miss out on a medal

"Luck was not on our side today," said Head Coach Florian Mühlstein, lamenting his team's chance conversion. Kazakhstan caught Austria cold in the first period, taking a 4:1 lead. Austria battled their way back in the second and third periods, winning both sections 2:1. However, they were unable to find an equaliser throughout the game.

Whenever the young Austrian side scored to close the gap, Kazakhstan restored their two-goal advantage and ultimately prevailed 6:5. "The defeat hurts deeply," Florian Mühlstein made no secret of how disappointed the players and coaching staff were after the loss. At the same time, the Carinthian thanked "the boys for their commitment, the ÖOC for allowing us to represent ourselves here, and the parents for entrusting us with their children and placing their trust in us."

The team will take many important lessons from the tournament, according to Florian Mühlstein: "We have seen what we are lacking. These are the areas we need to work on, for ourselves, for the federation and for the children."
