World Cham­pi­onship staff get together

The final piece of the puzzle is now the World Championship squad itself. It is to be selected during the five-week World Championship preparation period, which starts in April and includes a total of nine warm-up games. “We spoke about everything for around five hours: the way we work together, World Championship preparation, the respective roles within the team, our playing philosophy, tactics, video and much more,” Roger Bader offers an insight.

With this “World Championship workshop”, the head coach is preparing his coaching staff for the coming weeks and the tasks ahead. “It helps create clarity, but also boosts motivation once again,” says Bader.

World Championship preparation gets under way in four weeks with two warm-up games against Latvia in Riga. The following week, Austria will play their first home game against Slovenia in Villach. The other opponents are Czechia, Germany and Canada.

The 2024 World Championship gets under way for the Austrian side on 11 May against Denmark. The other opponents are Switzerland, 12 May; Canada, 14 May; Finland, 16 May; Czechia, 17 May; Norway, 19 May; and Great Britain on 21 May.
