World Cham­pi­onship prepa­ra­tion week #4: Final­ists grad­u­ally join national team

The win2day ICE Hockey League season 2023/2024 concluded on Friday. David Kickert and Paul Stapelfeldt of champions EC Red Bull Salzburg will now join the national team for the start of training on Tuesday. Further players from the two finalists are set to follow over the course of the week. They will face World Championship runners-up Germany in warm-up matches in Garmisch (GER) on Thursday and Zell am See on Saturday.

“Against Germany on Thursday, we will field virtually the same team as against the Czech Republic, plus David Kickert and Paul Stapelfeldt. On Thursday, while we are away in Garmisch, the other players from the two finalists will train in Zell am See with one of our coaches and are expected to play on Saturday,” reveals Head Coach Roger Bader.

The players reporting to Zell am See on Thursday will be announced during the week. The squad for Saturday's game will be announced on Friday.

Following the significant improvement in performance against the Czech Republic this week, they will now face World Championship runners-up Germany twice, on 25 and 27 April.
