Women without kick-off

The three women's national teams (senior, U18 and U16) had been due to open the 2020/21 season with on-ice training sessions and medical tests in Zell am See between 27 and 30 August. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation (ÖEHV) has now decided not to hold these training camps in order to protect the players' health.

As a result, ÖEHV will not carry out any activities with its various national teams in August, after the U16 boys' tournament participation in Germany was also cancelled on Monday.

"The health of our players is absolutely paramount, also with regard to the start of the season in September and general club operations. The Polish national team only recently held a training camp, after which half of the team was infected with coronavirus. This is a risk we do not want to take under any circumstances," said Martin Kogler, General Manager of the national team. "We hope that we will be able to carry out our planned activities after the regular league start in November and thus begin the season with the national teams somewhat later than planned."
