From 20 to 26 August, Austria’s women’s national ice hockey team will battle Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, China and Slovakia for promotion to the Top Division. The opening matches against Norway (20 August), Denmark (21 August) and the Netherlands (23 August) can be followed live via the ÖEHV’s OTT platform, LIVE.eishockey.at, while matches four and five against China (24 August) and Slovakia (26 August) will be broadcast live on ORF SPORT +.

On Wednesday, 2 August, Head Coach Alexander Bröms’ team will begin its final preparations in Klagenfurt for the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey Women´s World Championship Division IA, which was moved from April to August due to the testing requirements and travel restrictions that were still in place in China in the spring.
On 4 and 5 August, the ÖEHV selection will play two further warm-up matches against Italy at the Sepp-Puschnig-Halle in Klagenfurt, live on LIVE.eishockey.at , before travelling to China a week later. Anna Meixner and Selma Luggin will then join the team after preparing with their clubs in Sweden.
After narrowly missing out on promotion last year, the aim is to seize their chances this year, especially as two nations will be promoted to the Top Division.
Norway, the Netherlands and Slovakia are already well known from last year’s tournament. China are something of an unknown quantity, while Denmark were relegated from the Top Division at their home tournament in 2022.
The matches against Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands can be followed via livestream on LIVE.eishockey.at , while ORF SPORT + will broadcast the matches against China and Slovakia live.

Via our own OTT platform LIVE.eishockey.at we have broadcast all home matches of our senior national team and the women’s youth national teams live since its launch in September 2022, provided they are not shown on free-to-air television. We will show the first three World Championship matches on LIVE.eishockey.at. We are also very pleased that the two matches against China and Slovakia will likewise be shown LIVE by our long-standing partner ORF on ORF SPORT+ will be broadcast."
