Women's World Cham­pi­onship 2024: Logo and schedule unveiled

In addition to the "IIHF" lettering, which represents the international ice hockey federation, the logo incorporates many Austrian elements: red-white-red for Austria, yellow-red-white for the province of Carinthia, the Lindwurm for the city of Klagenfurt and, naturally, the puck as a symbol of ice hockey.

At the World Championship itself, Austria's women's national ice hockey team will open the tournament against Norway before facing Korea, France, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Dr Peter KAISER, Governor & Sports Minister: "Carinthia is an ice hockey stronghold par excellence. The importance of this sport in our province is also demonstrated by the enthusiasm of the public and the many children's, youth and recreational teams chasing the puck in Carinthia. Moreover, Carinthia as a sporting region has earned an excellent reputation as a venue for international ice hockey competitions. The newly renovated Heidi-Horten-Arena offers ideal conditions for hosting this Women's World Championship. From a sporting perspective, I wish the national teams every success at the World Championship and the participants unforgettable days in Carinthia."

Arno ARTHOFER, Provincial Sports Director: "Strengthening women's sport in Carinthia is very important to us, making it all the more pleasing that hosting the Women's Ice Hockey World Championship Division IA here in Klagenfurt marks another important milestone in this regard. Carinthia is known as an ice hockey province, and our female athletes also deliver outstanding performances in women's ice hockey year after year, representing our province far beyond its borders."

Dr Klaus HARTMANN, ÖEHV President: "Carinthia is one of Austria's ice hockey strongholds, with two traditional clubs in the top men's league, the win2day ICE Hockey League. In the coming years, the Federal Performance Centre for women's ice hockey will also be established here. Both the city of Klagenfurt and the newly renovated Heidi-Horten-Arena offer ideal conditions for hosting the Women's World Championship 2024. Our aim is to be the perfect host and generate the greatest possible attention for women's ice hockey."

Mag.a Yasmin STEPINA, ÖEHV Vice-President: "Once the venue had been confirmed, all preparations for next year's World Championship began. It represents an important piece of the puzzle in the further professionalisation of Austrian women's ice hockey. We are also generally developing various projects encompassing both the national teams and the domestic leagues, with the aim of creating new momentum."

Martin KOGLER, General Manager Women's Ice Hockey / General Secretary WWIA 2024: "Organising the Women's Ice Hockey World Championship Division IA 2024 is an exciting challenge that we are delighted to take on. Both Carinthia and the city of Klagenfurt are absolute ice hockey strongholds, and we want to create a week-long ice hockey festival here unlike anything women's ice hockey in Austria has seen before. From a sporting perspective, it is naturally also a major challenge, but if the crowd gets behind Team Austria accordingly, then anything is possible on home ice!"
