Women’s national team to face Slovakia twice in Linz

A few weeks ago, the IIHF announced that the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship Division IA, scheduled for 11–17 April, would be postponed.

The new date has now been set for 20 to 26 August, allowing the national associations of hosts China, Denmark, Norway, Slovakia, the Netherlands and Austria to begin their World Championship planning.

Following this announcement, ÖEHV immediately set about organising a team camp and internationals as a replacement for the postponed World Championship. The women’s national team will now assemble in Linz from 5 to 9 April and play two internationals against Slovakia in the Upper Austrian capital – dates and times are yet to be confirmed. 

Martin Kogler, General Manager: "We still have a relatively new coaching staff, who only began their work at the turn of the year. Every training session and every team camp is therefore enormously valuable in becoming familiar with the new system and style of play. There was no question that we would hold a team camp instead of the World Championship, in order to give the coaching staff these additional training sessions and the players a fitting end to the season."
