Women’s National Team completes training camp in Telfs
Austria’s women’s ice hockey national team will convene in Telfs from 13 to 16 October. The call-up includes no fewer than eight players who won the title at the 2022 IIHF U18 Women´s World Championship - Division IB in Radenthein just three weeks ago, thereby securing promotion to Division IA.

Magdalena Luggin, Anna Marlene Billa, Lena Artner, Zoey Hobitsch, Leonie Kutzer, Hanna Obermayr, Tamina Schall and Hanna Schwarzer earned direct call-ups to the senior team through their performances at the U18 World Championship. Zoey Hobitsch was named MVP at the home World Championship.
For several members of the octet, the senior national team is no new territory. Anna Marlene Billa, Leonie Kutzer, Hanna Schwarzer, Hanna Obermayr and Lena Artner were already on the ice at the Division IA World Championship in the spring.
Countdown to the World Championship in April 2023 under way
Following the four-day training camp in Telfs, the team is expected to play several warm-up games towards the end of the year, between Christmas and New Year. The venue and opponents are not yet known.
The countdown is therefore under way for the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division IA, which will take place in China in April 2023. According to the IIHF, the Shenzhen Dayun Arena, an arena with a capacity of 18.000 fans, has been proposed as the venue for the World Championship games. Austria will face Denmark, Norway, Slovakia, China and the Netherlands from 16 to 22 April 2023.
As at the previous World Championship in Angers, France, the aim is promotion to the top division, the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship.
