Women begin World Championship Division IA on Sunday – all games live on ORF
Preparations for Austria's women's national ice hockey team's World Championship Division IA campaign have been completed. Tomorrow, Sunday, at 10:30 live on on.orf.at, they will make another attempt to earn promotion to the world's top ten nations for the first time. As in recent years, Head Coach Alexander Bröms expects tight games in which the finer details will prove decisive.

"We are not talking about a medal or promotion," stresses the Swede. For him, it is always about the next game. "We need to be present, live in the moment and focus on the respective game, and we must not look ahead to the next opponent or the next training session," demands Alexander Bröms of his players and staff.
The first opponent is Denmark, who were relegated from the Top Division. Two years ago, Austria lost 0:1 at exactly the same venue. The result should be different tomorrow, Sunday, says Alexander Bröms: "The teams know each other well. They will be hard-fought, close games. We need to be ready for every game and work hard around the net. I expect us to focus on ourselves, stick to the playbook and make the most of every shift and every period. We are taking it day by day. Denmark are now our first opponent."
In the build-up, they played two further warm-up games against Slovakia and France, who are also opponents at the World Championship. They lost 2:4 to Slovakia and 1:4 to France. Head Coach Alexander Bröms: "These games were important for us. The result was not the priority; our performance was. We learned our lessons from the games, and now we are ready for the start of the World Championship."
