Wins for joint leaders Ritten and EK Zeller Eisbären – Adler Kitzbühel lose

Rittner Buam SkyAlps celebrated their sixth consecutive victory on Saturday. The reigning champions won 3:0 at EC Bregenzerwald in front of nearly 1.000 spectators. Although the visitors had more of the game, the first period remained scoreless. Eric Hjorth gave the team from Klobenstein the lead on the power play in the 27th minute, before Marco Insam (47th) sealed the win with another power-play goal. Shortly before the end, Simon Kostner scored into the empty net to complete the scoring. Ritten netminder Colin Furlong recorded his first shutout of the season.

More than 2.000 fans watched EK Zeller Eisbären beat Unterland 4:3 at home. After a scoreless first period, there were four power-play goals in the middle frame. Philip Putnik gave the hosts the lead before Davide Girardi equalised. Salzburg then pulled away to 3:1. In the final period, the Cavaliers closed the gap to 3:2 and 4:3, but the second-placed Eisbären narrowly held on in the end.

Fourth-placed Kitzbühel suffered a setback in the race for direct playoff qualification. The Tyroleans lost to KHL Sisak despite taking a quick 3:0 lead. After the Croatians equalised early in the second period, Anthony DeLuca restored the home side's lead. However, Sisak turned the game around within a few minutes and took a 6:4 lead into the third period – Nikolas Malenica and Jan Smolec each scored twice. Kitzbühel could only reduce the deficit to 6:5, as the now seventh-placed visitors ended their losing streak.

Hafro Cortina Hockey (fifth place), meanwhile, celebrated two important points in the playoff race. The blue-and-whites took the lead at Meran with two quick goals in the middle period, but the hosts pulled one back shortly afterwards. Cortina's narrow lead lasted until three seconds before the end of regulation, when Riku Ishida equalised. The Adler had good chances to score in overtime, but it was the visitors who found the net. Riccardo Lacedelli sealed the away win with his second goal of the evening.
