Wins for Huskies and Sabres in the win2day AWHL

In the Placement Round, Sabres St. Pölten also won their second meeting with Lakers Kärnten. Following last Saturday’s emphatic 6:0 away win, the Lower Austrians this time recorded a comfortable 4:2 home victory. The Sabres were already 3:0 ahead after 15 minutes, before Rylee Davison extended the lead to 4:0 after 25 minutes.

It was the defender’s second goal of the game and her first brace of the season. Towards the end of the second period, the visitors from Carinthia got on the scoresheet for the first time. The second-placed team even enjoyed a positive final period, with the Lakers winning it 1:0. After the Graz99ers Huskies beat DEC Salzburg Eagles 4:3/SO at home on Saturday, they followed it up with a 2:1 away win on Sunday. Tamara Grascher scored the decisive goal with just six minutes remaining. The hosts had previously taken the lead in the sixth minute, before the 99ers equalised in the 32nd minute. With eight points, the Huskies now hold a seven-point lead over the Eagles and are eight points ahead of Villach. First place and qualification for the Final-4 are therefore virtually assured for the Styrians.

European Women’s Hockey League

In the European Women´s Hockey League, Budapest Jegkorong Akademia and Tauron Metropolia Silesia also faced each other for the second time within 24 hours, with Budapest again prevailing after overtime, this time by 3:2.
