win2day AWHL: VSV Lady Hawks move into third place with victory over Graz99ers Huskies

The VSV Lady Hawks celebrated a commanding 5:1 away win over Graz99ers Huskies. Zimmermann and Miljone each scored twice to lead the Villach side to a clear victory. VSV improved in both standings and now sit level on points with the Lakers in third place in the AWHL. The Lady Hawks rounded off a perfect weekend, having beaten Sabres St. Pölten, the reigning champions of the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League, on Saturday.

In Ferlach, Lakers Kärnten secured a narrow home win over DEC Salzburg Eagles. Following an evenly contested game, Soccio decided the match in favour of the Carinthian side with her goal in the 46th minute. Head Coach Günther Ropatsch's team celebrated their third win of the season and remain within striking distance of the top of the AWHL.

In Kapfenberg, the Highlanders were beaten by a strong Budapest side. The visitors made a flying start and were already 2:0 ahead after just over a minute. Wysocki emerged as Akademia's match-winner with three goals, helping her side close the gap in the standings.

In Bolzano, EVB Eagles South Tyrol retained top spot with a hard-fought 5:3 win over MAC Budapest. After falling behind early on, Head Coach Stefano Daprà's team turned the game around in the second period and took a decisive lead through Giuliani, Ceregihini and Kaneppele. The South Tyroleans dominated the game with 32:19 shots on goal, consolidating their lead at the top of the EWHL standings.
