Lakers Kärnten also won the second meeting with EC Graz99ers Huskies in the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League. The home side prevailed 4:1 on Friday to take over at the top of the AWHL standings. The game was held under the motto “Pink the Rink”, with 2.100€ ultimately donated to Krebshilfe Kärnten. In the European Women’s Hockey League, EVB Eagles South Tyrol extended their lead at the top of the standings. The team from Bolzano beat DEC Salzburg Eagles 2:0 thanks to two goals in the third period.

Lakers Kärnten, who came out on top 3:0 in the first meeting of the season, also made the better start on Friday. Adela Vavrova gave the home side the lead in the 13th minute. Graz showed improvement compared to the encounter almost two weeks ago, but were once again beaten. Two short-handed goals within 15 seconds in the middle period put the Carinthians firmly in control. Valentina Ropatsch struck first before Reaghan Pietrowski made it 3:0. The Huskies pulled one back through Simone Graschner, but Alina Hinum sealed the result. The Lakers therefore also took over at the top of the AWHL standings.
The game at the Heidi Horten Arena was held under the motto “Pink the Rink” and dedicated to showing solidarity with cancer patients and their families. After the final siren, the donation of 2.100€ was also presented to Krebshilfe Kärnten.

DEC Salzburg Eagles pushed EVB Eagles South Tyrol all the way in the European Women’s Hockey League. In the end, however, the favourites from South Tyrol came away with the win. After 51 scoreless minutes, Kristin Della Rovere broke the deadlock, before Elena Perathoner sealed the final score shortly afterwards. Goaltender Ilaria Girardi recorded a shutout with 14 saves, and Bolzano further extended their lead at the top of the EWHL standings.
