The DEC Salzburg Eagles opened their AWHL campaign with a 6:4 win over the VSV Lady Hawks. They now face a major challenge in champions Sabres St. Pölten. The Lower Austrians lead the table after victories over the Lakers and Huskies.

In the second Saturday clash, Lakers Kärnten face Graz99ers Huskies. Both teams have so far lost to St. Pölten and are now looking to secure their first points.

European Women’s Hockey League

The EWHL weekend gets under way on Friday evening with Graz99ers Huskies against HK PSRZ Bratislava. Saturday also sees Aisulu Almaty take on the VSV Lady Hawks. A few days ago, the defending champions from Kazakhstan claimed a convincing 8:3 victory in the first meeting.

Also on Saturday, EVB Eagles South Tyrol host KSV Highlanders. The game will be shown live on sporteurope.tv. The Bolzano side continue on Sunday with another home game against Salzburg. There is also a double-header between MAC Budapest and Tauron Metropolia Silesia on the schedule.
