win2day AWHL: Graz99ers Huskies face VSV Lady Hawks on Family Day
There are no fewer than nine games on the schedule in the European Women’s Hockey League and the win2day Austrian Women’s Hockey League this weekend. The highlight is the clash between the Graz99ers Huskies and the VSV Lady Hawks, which will be played as part of the Graz99ers’ Family Day. The game takes place on Sunday immediately after the Moser Medical Graz99ers’ win2day ICE Hockey League game against Pioneers Vorarlberg.

On Saturday, the VSV Lady Hawks will face the Sabres St. Pölten. The visitors from Lower Austria are fourth with twelve points, while the league newcomers from Villach have won two of their eight games so far. It is the first meeting between the two teams. In the AWHL standings, the Sabres currently lead the way with nine points from a possible nine, while the Lady Hawks have three points.
Sunday sees the top game between the Graz99ers Huskies and the VSV Lady Hawks. Face-off is at 19:30, immediately after the Moser Medical Graz99ers’ win2day ICE Hockey League game against Pioneers Vorarlberg. The 99ers’ theme for the day is Family Day, with doors opening at 14:00.
There will also be another Austrian derby as Lakers Kärnten take on Salzburg.
European Women’s Hockey League
This EWHL and AWHL weekend gets under way as early as Friday lunchtime, with Budapest Jegkorong Akademia taking on HK PSRZ Bratislava. Both teams have played four games so far and have three (Budapest) and six points (Bratislava) respectively. It is the first of three games this weekend for Akademia: they visit the Graz99ers Huskies on Saturday before facing the KSV Highlanders away from home on Sunday.
From an Austrian perspective, Lakers Kärnten and DEC Salzburg Eagles are in action on Saturday. The eighth-placed Lakers must overcome league leaders EVB Eagles Südtirol at home, while Salzburg, in sixth place, face third-placed MAC Budapest. This game will be shown live and free of charge on Sporteurope.tv from 15:30 on Saturday. Sunday also features a top international clash, with league leaders Bozen hosting third-placed MAC Budapest.
