Three teams remain unbeaten, two streaks have come to an end: in the third round of the Austrian Ice Hockey League (ÖEL), the KSV Kängurus and EHC Kundl suffered their first defeats, while Wiener Eislauf-Verein, EHC Lustenau and SC Samina Hohenems remain unbeaten.

WEV won 8:3 away to ATSE Graz on Saturday and have scored 21:6 goals after three games. Patrick Bolterle has played a major part in this, leading the scoring standings with seven goals and two assists. Graz are bottom of the table after their third defeat. The Kängurus lost 3:5 in Gmunden. The Sharks responded impressively following their derby defeat against Linz. Both teams now sit level behind WEV on five points. HDK Maribor celebrated their first win of the season with a 3:2 victory over ASKÖ Grizzlies Linz. The Slovenians and Linz are therefore both on three points.

In the West Division, SC Samina Hohenems prevailed 4:2 in the top-of-the-table clash away to EHC Kundl and are just one point behind Lustenau on eight points. Lustenau won the Vorarlberg derby in Dornbirn 3:1 and remain without dropping a point. A veteran is the key to their attacking success: 40-year-old Chris D’Alvise already has seven points after three games. Kundl slip to third place on six points following their first defeat. HC Kufstein claimed their first win with a 5:3 victory over WSG Swarovski Wattens Penguins. This leaves only Dornbirn and Wattens still waiting for their first win in the West.
