Vinzenz Rohrer joins the World Championship squad
Following Laval Rocket’s elimination from the AHL, immediate steps were taken to bring Vinzenz Rohrer into the national team for the World Championship. All parties have now given the green light, meaning Vinzenz Rohrer is officially on the roster and has already joined the team.

“We are delighted that it worked out. Vinzenz Rohrer was an important component of our team. He brings speed, intensity and passion to the team,” explains Head Coach Roger Bader.
On 12 April, Vinzenz Rohrer and the ZSC Lions were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Swiss championship. The Montreal Canadiens immediately assigned him to North America, where he played for their affiliate team, Laval Rocket. They were eliminated by the Toronto Marlies in the play-offs, after which contact was immediately made with him and the Montreal Canadiens to set everything in motion for his World Championship participation.
All parties have now given the green light and Vinzenz Rohrer has also officially been registered with the IIHF. The 21-year-old has already joined the national team and is looking forward to returning to his second home, Zurich: “It was clear to me that I wanted to play at the World Championship if I was no longer competing in any other competition. I always enjoy playing for Austria and being with the lads. We always have a great atmosphere in the team. The World Championship in Zurich is, of course, special. I have many friends here and my home region of Vorarlberg is also nearby. There will certainly be many people coming to watch. I am delighted to be with the national team now and for it to get under way at the weekend.”
