U20i and U18i get their quarter-finals under way

The playoffs in the two International Leagues in the U20 and U18 age categories get under way on Wednesday evening. Five Austrian teams are represented in the U20, and three in the U18. In both leagues, the respective best-of-three quarter-final series will come thick and fast over the coming days. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, the higher-ranked teams after Phase 2 of the championship have home-ice advantage. A potential third game will be played on Saturday. In both age categories, two Austrian teams finished the league phase in 1st and 2nd place. The semi-finals, which, like the final itself, will be played in a best-of-five format, begin as early as 27 February.

EC Red Bull Salzburg and EC IDM VSV will be looking to make use of their home-ice advantage to reach the semi-finals after two games. The Young Bulls face EV spusu Vienna Capitals, while the Carinthians take on Nordic Hockey Academy. Eishockey Akademie Oberösterreich must first travel to face Fehervar Hockey Academy 19.

Before EC Red Bull Salzburg's U20 takes to the ice, the Bulls' U18 will play their quarter-final games against Okanagan Hockey Academy. Alongside EC-KAC, Salzburg set the standard in the league phase. A single point separated the two top teams, meaning the Red Jackets will also enjoy home-ice advantage against DVTK Jegesmedvek Jegkorong Sp. on Wednesday and Thursday. 

The semi-finals, which, like the final itself, will be played in a best-of-five format, begin as early as 27 February.
