U20 World Championship 2022: Opening game against Germany
At the end of December 2021, several nations recorded numerous positive Covid cases. The IIHF subsequently called off the tournament, which will now be rescheduled for 9–20 August in Edmonton (CAN). Austria will open against their big brother Germany.

The schedule was confirmed on Monday evening. Austria will open against big brother Germany, before facing Sweden, the USA and Switzerland. There will be no relegation at this tournament, and Austria will also be part of the U20 World Championship 2023, which will once again take place in the birthplace of ice hockey, in Halifax and Moncton, from 26 December 2022 to 5 January 2023.
