U20 National Team opens summer camp season

ÖEHV Men's Sporting Director Roger Bader: “The summer camps mark the start of the youth national team season. The coaches can call up a broad squad, scout players and test their ability to compete internationally. One objective is to familiarise the national teams with the principles of conduct, tactics and team cohesion.”

U20 Head Coach Philipp Pinter promises a tough start for the U20: “A brutally hard week awaits us.” 30 players have been called up. Pinter is very familiar with the 2004 and 2005 age groups.

“Several of the 2004-born players were already at the U20 World Championship last summer, while with the 2005-born players I am eager to see how they have developed since the U18 World Championship and whether they have done their homework in recent months,” said Philipp Pinter, who added: “I am looking forward to working with the boys. This camp is about competing hard to earn a place at the tournament in Karlstad (SWE) in August. We want to field a strong team there. We want to play aggressive, high-tempo hockey, and outstanding fitness is essential for that. We will go full throttle from Monday to Friday. There will be an internal game on Thursday evening and Friday morning. We want to see heart, passion and total commitment.”

After the U20, the Carinthian immediately faces his next assignment, as he gets to work with the U18 in Ferlach as well. A few kilometres away, the U15 is preparing in Klagenfurt for its home tournament, where it will field two teams. The opponents are KAC, the LHD All Stars, a select team from Regensburg (GER), and two US Hockey teams.

Back in Ferlach, the U14 team will hold its summer camp from 9 to 12 August. The U16 will convene at the Red Bull Akademie, where it will prepare from 11 to 14 August for the subsequent tournament in Füssen (GER), featuring hosts Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia.

In Villach, the women's U18 team will convene from 12 to 15 August for a skills camp.
