U20 national team also lose to Denmark by a single goal

Head coach Philipp Pinter’s team made another flying start in their second outing in Vojens: this time, Alexander Rupnik scored after just 12 seconds to give them a 1:0 lead (1st minute). While shorthanded, the ÖEHV selection, who are preparing for the World Championship in December, conceded the 1:1 equaliser after just under 13 minutes of play. 

Just 59 seconds into the second period, Denmark led 2:1 after scoring another power-play goal. The game remained close thereafter, but the hosts saw out the 2:1 result. This despite Austria clearly leading 34 to 18 in shots on goal at the final buzzer.

U20 Head Coach Philipp Pinter: "After a dream start and taking a 1:0 lead after just a few seconds, the team continued to deliver a very good performance. We were able to pin Denmark back and had significantly more time on offence than against Norway. The team implemented the game plan very well, but unfortunately we were somewhat undisciplined in the second period. We were punished with two power-play goals almost out of nowhere. Nevertheless, I think there were many positives today. The special teams made the difference. Regardless of the result, we are heading in the right direction and I hope that we can raise our performance another level tomorrow."
