U20 Men: Count­down and World Cham­pi­onship prepa­ra­tions begin in St. Pölten

“This is a very, very important week for us,” stresses the Head Coach. The final tactical and system adjustments need to be made ahead of the World Championship. Norway, Denmark and Latvia are also three nations against whom the team wants to measure itself, as Philipp Pinter explains.

Sporting Director Roger Bader emphasises: “The November break is always an important benchmark so close to the World Championship and gives the coaching staff another opportunity to assess players and consolidate the system. Latvia, Denmark and Norway will help the team quickly reach the level it will need at the World Championship in order to be competitive.”

The players are also in focus. The squad includes several U18 team players, as the overseas-based players will be unavailable for this training camp.

“That means others can showcase themselves and fight for a World Championship place. The boys know that there is no guaranteed place as such,” says Pinter, who further adds regarding the U18 players: “In our view, those who are involved now are very good talents who have earned this opportunity.”

Also pleased is Philipp Pinter with his three goaltenders Benedikt Oschgan, Max Kogler and Patrick Müller: “We can be very satisfied with the current development. Benedikt Oschgan even recently got a taste of Champions Hockey League action.”

Particular attention will be paid to the special teams at this training camp, says Philipp Pinter: “We saw at the last tournaments and at last year's World Championship that the level of the teams is so high that special teams make the difference. We have not been effective enough on the power play in the recent past and have conceded too much while shorthanded.”
