U18 Women’s Ice Hockey National Team defeat Norway twice

The U18 Women’s Ice Hockey National Team held a training camp in Villach. In the first of two friendlies against Norway – a direct rival at the U18 World Championship Division IA in Ritten (ITA) next January – they claimed a 3:1 victory on Friday. On Saturday, the red-white-red women followed it up with a 3:0 win.

As in the first match, it also took a long time for the opening goal to come in the second friendly against Norway. Tamina Schall gave Austria the lead in the 21st minute of the second period. Zoey Hobitsch made it 2:0 on the power play in the 28th minute.

Still in the second period, Leonie Kutzer sealed the result with the 3:0 on the power play in the 39th minute. There were no further goals in the final period, as the team coached by Head Coach Mario Bellina also won the second meeting with Norway at Villach Stadthalle.

Victory over Norway on Friday too

The score was 0:0 at the halfway point of Friday’s game at Villach Stadthalle, before Norway took the lead through Evie Haynes on the power play.

In the third period, the team of Head Coach Mario Bellina levelled at 1:1 through Vanessa Pickova in the 43rd minute. It was the starting signal for a strong final period. Zoey Hobitsch made it 2:1 in the 45th minute, before Hanna Schwarzer sealed the 3:1 final score with a shorthanded goal in the 56th minute.
