They found the net for the first time in the second minute, making a perfect start. What followed was a feeling-out process and an open exchange of blows. The visitors managed to equalise before the first intermission.

From the second period onwards, the Austrians simply skated circles around the Slovenians. They outshot their opponents 20:8, with the ÖEHV team opening up a three-goal lead at 4:1. The goals for 3:1 and 4:1 came within 23 seconds. The second line of Britta Bachler, Emma Lintner and Vanessa Picka in particular were outstanding, combining for ten points. Picka scored twice.

Even star player Sara Confidenti, who repeatedly tried to make an impact and rally her team-mates, could find no way past the cohesive Team Austria. Thanks to this collective team performance, Austria's U18 ultimately prevailed 6:1.

They even had to make do without key player Zoey Hobitsch due to injury.

"It was a superb battling performance. From the goaltenders through to every single player," was also General Manager Martin Kogler full of praise after the game.
