U18 national team loses opener against Norway

Austria's U18 men's national ice hockey team is taking part in a Four Nations Tournament in Denmark during the February break. In their opening game, the ÖEHV selection suffered a 1:4 defeat against Norway.

With the Four Nations Tournament in Gentofte,Head Coach Philipp Pinterand his coaching staff Patrick Harand, Stefan Ulmer and goaltending coach Gernot Wegerer are starting the final countdown to the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division IA, taking place from 14 April 2024 to 20 April 2024 in Frederikshavn, Denmark.

Austria’s first opponent on Thursday at Gentoftehallen was Norway, who will compete in the top division at the U18 World Championship in Finland in April. Austria took a 1:0 lead through Manuel Wadel (11 minutes). Norway equalised shortly before the end of the first period. The Scandinavians took the lead for the first time in the second period and sealed the 4:1 final score with two power-play goals in the final period.

Friday sees Austria face Latvia, who will also compete in the top division in Espoo. On Saturday, Austria conclude against hosts Denmark, Rot-Weiß-Rot's World Championship opponents in April.
