U17 Men: EYOF preparation and selection camp
From 9 to 15 February, domestic prospects born in 2008/2009 will take to the ice at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Bakuriani, Georgia. Head Coach Peter Schweda begins preparations this week with two friendly matches against Slovenia in Ferlach. Both matches will be broadcast via livestream, with the direct link to follow.

"We have brought together 24 players and are using this week to assess the players and work on our system," said Peter Schweda, who can already go into great detail in training, as the U16 and U18 work in virtually the same way. The squad for the EYOF must be reduced to 20 players: 18 skaters and 2 goaltenders. Paul Sintschnig is not involved, as he is currently playing for the U20 national team at the U20 World Championship Division IA in Bled (SLO).
On Friday and Saturday, they will play two friendly matches against Slovenia's U18, Peter Schweda: "We are deliberately facing an older age group and, above all, a strong opponent in order to be prepared for the EYOF, as in February we will face two top nations, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, in the battle for a semi-final spot."
