U17: Looking forward to the Euro­pean Youth Olympic Festival

“Once again, it was an incredible experience. What the ÖOC organises here for the athletes is unique. It is a great honour to be outfitted by the ÖOC, and we were again able to take a great deal away from the presentations,” enthuses Head Coach Peter Schweda.

Excitement is high throughout the team around a week before the EYOF gets under way, as the Vienna native explains: “The boys are in good spirits and ready.” League action continues this weekend before the team flies to Tbilisi on 8 January. The players who will still be in action with the U18 national team in Riga (LAT) next week will then join the national team there: Martin Haim, Benedikt Hengelmüller, Paul Vaschauner, Ben Öfner, Jonathan Oschgan and Paul Sintschnig.

The squad also includes several players who were already on the ice at last year’s Youth Olympic Games: Martin Haim, Benedikt Hengelmüller, Marc Hudritsch, Simon Cseh, Luca Fischer, Ben Öfner, Joanthan Oschgan, Paul Schuster, Paul Sintschnig, Paul Vaschauner and Rafael Wagnsonner.

“These players in particular bring valuable experience with them, which they can hopefully pass on to the team,” adds Peter Schweda.

At the EYOF, Austria will face Czechia and Switzerland from 13 February in the battle for a semi-final berth.
