For their third and final appearance at Kranj's Dvorana Zlato Polje, Head Coach Peter Schweda put his trust in goalie Gabriel Lemberger. Austria took a 2:0 lead with two goals in four minutes. Luca Fischer struck first (8th), before Quentin Wallner added another (12th).

Red-White-Red made a flying start to the second period: Lucas Hartl made it 3:0 exactly 47 seconds after the restart (21st). Slovenia responded quickly, with Marsel Hočevar reducing the deficit to 1:3 just 29 seconds later. Just after the halfway mark, the game suddenly became exciting again as Marcel Vodnjov scored to make it 2:3 for the Lynx.

Soon afterwards, Austria had to negotiate a difficult spell while shorthanded, holding on to their narrow lead until Noel Lussnig restored the two-goal advantage with his third goal of the tournament (39th). The hosts refused to go away and got back into the game in the final period through Jaka Klinar, who netted to make it 3:4. Austria once again restored their two-goal advantage, with Paul Schuster scoring to make it 5:3 for Red-White-Red (51st).

The game remained close and exciting because Žiga Raduha made it 4:5 two and a half minutes later. With three minutes remaining, Filip Žagar Hrovat equalised at 5:5 for Slovenia, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, Žiga Kuhar netted to secure a 6:5 win for Slovenia, who finished second at the Four Nations tournament. Austria finished third behind Italy and the hosts, ahead of Hungary.
