The team led by Head Coach Peter Schweda faced Hungary in the gunsmiths' town on Friday, with the visitors scoring once in each of the first two periods.

The visitors extended their lead to 3:0 in the final period before Austria reduced the deficit to 1:3 through Lucas Hartl on the power play (49th minute). The final push, in which Red-White-Red threw everything forward, went unrewarded.

Head Coach Peter Schweda: "Hungary initially had the edge over us physically. In addition, the team played nervously in the first period. That changed in the second period, when we were able to make the game more even, and we even dominated the final period. We had plenty of chances to equalise or even win the game, but the puck simply would not find its way into the net. It is an important learning process for the boys to see that small details can decide a game like this. Now we need to put this game behind us. Italy await tomorrow and we want to take the next step."

The U15 continue against Italy on Saturday, before facing another neighbouring country, Slovenia, in the final game on Sunday.
