U15 and U11 youth leagues begin second cham­pi­onship phase after U20i and U18i

In the ÖEHV U15 league, the second phase of the championship begins on Saturday in Division 1 and Division 2. In Division 1, EC KAC were level on points ahead of local rivals EC VSV after Phase 1 and 15 games. In Division 2, Eishockey Akademie Steiermark dominated proceedings ahead of Eishockey Leistungszentrum Vorarlberg.

In the Play Up/Down, Vienna Capitals narrowly prevailed over Eishockey Akademie Steiermark 7:6 in the CHL format after two games at the start of November, while Steel Wings Linz defeated Eishockey Leistungszentrum Vorarlberg by an aggregate score of 10:6.

At the start of the second phase, EC KAC on Saturday, 23 November in Division 1 against EC Red Bull Salzburg in Division __OEHV_NUM_G_B__ on Saturday, __OEHV_NUM_G_A__ November, while EV spusu Vienna Capitals play Steel Wings Linz and EC IDM VSV host SPG Okanagan Hockey Club Europe/EC Lower Austria Stars. All three match-ups will be repeated on Sunday, 24 November.

In Division 2, Ultras Spittal host HC TIWAG Innsbruck Die Haie, while Eishockey Akademie Steiermark host HC Ferlach and the Eishockey Leistungszentrum Vorarlberg take on HC Kufstein. These match-ups will be repeated on Sunday.

ÖEHV U11 League

The U11 League will begin its second phase next weekend. Phase two (November to December) will be played in tournament format on full-length ice and will determine the standings for the final tournaments in phase three, which will once again be held in cross-ice format from January.

U20 International League

The U20 International League began its second phase last weekend. After phase 1, Eishockey Akademie Oberösterreich, top of Division 1 after 14 games, were separated from third-placed EC Red Bull Salzburg by just two points. DVTK Jegesmedvek Jegkorong Sportakademia were in between. In Division 2, EC KAC and Eishockey Akademie Steiermark pulled clear of the competition.

In the subsequent Play Up/Down, Fehervar Hockey Academy won the tie against Eishockey Akademie Steiermark 19 at the beginning of November, with an aggregate score of 4:2. EC KAC gave Budapest Jegkorong Akademia no chance in two games, winning 10:1.

Last weekend, DVTK Jegesmedvek Jegkorong Sportakademia in Division 1 twice against Ujpesti Jegkorong Akademia in Division __OEHV_NUM_AN_A__, once 4:3 and once 4:3 after a penalty shoot-out. Nordic Hockey Academy from Ferlach won twice away from home – 5:2 and 6:3 – against EC VSV. EC KAC defeated Eishockey Akademie Oberösterreich with 4:1 and 3:1. EC Red Bull Salzburg also recorded two wins – 5:0 and 3:2 – against Fehervar Hockey Academy 19.

In Division 2, Budapest Jegkorong Akademia beat Okanagan Hockey Academy 4:3, while HC TIWAG Innsbruck Die Haie lost at home to Vasas SC 3:4. 

U20i schedule

U18 International League

The second phase of the U18 International League also got under way last weekend. In Division 1, EC Red Bull Salzburg had dominated 15 games and finished Phase 1 as clear table leaders. In Division 2, Nordic Hockey Academy were ahead of the Vienna Capitals. 

In the Play Up/Down, Nordic Hockey Academy beat Vasas SC over two games by an aggregate score of 10:5. Budapest Jegkorong Akademia narrowly beat the Vienna Capitals over two games by 7:6. 

On the first weekend of Phase 2, EC KAC in Division 1 against the Nordic Hockey Academy 3:4 in a penalty shootout in Division __OEHV_NUM_BP_A__. Ujpesti Jegkorong Akademia beat DVTK Jegesmedvek Jegkorong Sp. once by 4:1 and lost the second game 2:4. Budapest Jegkorong Akademia lost their first match against EC Red Bull Salzburg lost 1:2, before gaining revenge with a 5:3 victory a day later.

In Division 2, Fehervar Hockey Academy 19 won twice against the Hiti Akademy Bled Hawks, once 8:3 and once 5:2. Okanagan Hockey Academy beat EV spusu Vienna Capitals 6:2, but the Viennese side prevailed 3:0 a day later. Vasas SC defeated ICEHAWKS Hockey Club 4:1, before the Icehawks turned the tables with a 4:3 win the following day. 

U18i fixture list

Format

The U20 International League plays a single cross-border home-and-away round in 2 divisions in Phase 1. After completion of Phase 1, the 7th-placed team from Division 1 faces the 2nd-placed team from Division 2, while the 8th-placed team from Division 1 faces the 1nd-placed team from Division 2 in two games in the “CHL format” in the Play Up/Down. The teams in places 1-6, plus the Play Up/Down winners, play a one-and-a-half-round (1,5) cross-border home-and-away schedule in Division 1 in Phase 2. All other teams play a one-and-a-half-round (1,5) cross-border home-and-away schedule in Division 2. The top 2 teams from Division 2 then face the bottom two teams from Division 1 in the Pre-Playoffs, played in the CHL format, for a quarter-final berth. The top 3 teams then select their quarter-final opponents. The first playoff round is played as a "Best of three", with the semi-finals and final played as a "Best of five".

The U18 International League plays its regular season from September 2024 to February 2025, also split into 2 divisions. A one-and-a-half-round home-and-away schedule is played in Phase 1. After completion of Phase 1, the 5th-placed team from Division 1 faces the 2nd-placed team from Division 2, while the 6th-placed team from Division 1 faces the 1nd-placed team from Division 2 in two games in the “CHL format” in the Play Up/Down. The winners play in Division 1 in Phase 2, while the losers play in Division 2. The teams in places 1-4, plus the Play Up/Down winners, play a double home-and-away round in Division 1 in Phase 2. All remaining teams also play a double home-and-away round in Division 2 for the remaining 2 playoff places. The first playoff round (quarter-finals) is played as a "Best of three", with the semi-finals and final played as a "Best of five".

The U15 is split into Division 1 and Division 2 in Phase 1 and plays a one-and-a-half-round nationwide home-and-away schedule. In the Play Up/Down, two games are played in the “CHL format”, with the 5th-placed team from Division 1 facing the 2nd-placed team from Division 2, and the 6th-placed team from Division 1 facing the 1nd-placed team from Division 2. The teams in places 1–4, plus the Play Up/Down winners, qualify directly for the playoffs and play a placement round in a one-and-a-half-round (1,5) nationwide home-and-away schedule. Following completion of Phase 1, the teams in places 7-12 play a qualifying round in a one-and-a-half-round (1,5) nationwide home-and-away schedule for the remaining two playoff places. The quarter-final match-ups are determined by the final standings: 1st vs. 8th, 2nd vs. 7th, 3rd vs. 6th, 4th vs. 5th. In the U15, the quarter-finals and semi-finals are played as a "Best of three", with the final played as a "Best of five".

The U11 Championship in the 2024/25 season is played in the small-rink format. The championship is divided into three phases. Phase 1 (September to November) is played in the cross-ice format. Phase 2 (November to December) is played in the lengthwise format and determines the seedings for the final tournaments in Phase 3, which are again played in the cross-ice format from January.
