The decision has been made. Head coach Alexander Bröms, General Manager Gina Kingsbury and the staff have selected their squad after the training camp in Klagenfurt in early October for the IIHF Women’s World Championship in Denmark (6 to 16 November): 25 players. Three goaltenders, eight defenders and 14 forwards will be involved as Austria's women's national team competes in the top division for the first time ever. The team secured its place there in China in April 2025.

The squad is a diverse mix. 13 Austrians play abroad. Theresa Schafzahl even plays in the PWHL, the world's best women's league, with Seattle Torrent. Six players are also competing in US college hockey. Sabres St. Pölten provide the largest contingent, with seven players. The squad's average age at the start of the World Championship will be 24,3 years.

Before heading north, a final training camp will take place in Villach at the end of October and the beginning of November. A friendly is also planned. The team will then travel to Esbjerg. There, Austria will face Czechia (6 November), Germany (7 November), the USA (9 November) and Switzerland (10 November) in Group A. The top four teams in each of the two groups of five will reach the quarter-finals. The bottom teams in the groups will play for top-division survival in Herning on 13 November.

Alexander Bröms, head coach of the ÖEHV women's national team: "We have spoken a great deal with the staff in order to make the best possible decisions for the squad. It will be so much fun to compete with Austria against some of the best countries in the world – and that is exactly what we wanted. Nobody is unbeatable. We are not going to Denmark to lose and be relegated again. We are going there because we believe we can win games."
