Theresa Schafzahl served as captain at Vermont last season, scoring 21 goals and registering 24 assists in 36 games. 2022/2023 was her second-best season, after she recorded a total of 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists) in 2021/2022 and was named Hockey East Player of the Year. With the national team, she narrowly missed out on promotion from Division IA to the top division shortly afterwards.
This year's Division IA World Championship in Shenzhen, China, was postponed due to travel restrictions and testing requirements in connection with COVID-19 and will now be made up from 20–26 August.
Montreal assembling a top team
Her new club, which missed the playoffs last season, is currently building a new team. And Theresa Schafzahl will have a central role to play: “After the season, I began speaking with various teams here in North America and in Sweden. A lot has recently been invested in the Premier Hockey Federation. As a result, many good players have chosen to join the PHF. That was also a decisive reason for me to stay here. The management and coaches in Montreal ultimately convinced me that they want to build something here. They also offered me the opportunity to study. Personally, I expect to play an important role in the team, get plenty of ice time and contribute as much as I can to ensuring that we have a successful season. My expectations are high, as many good players have been signed for the new season.”
