Theresa Schafzahl ends her debut season in 2nd place

Theresa Schafzahl and Boston lost the decisive game of the best-of-five final series against Minnesota 0:3 in front of their home crowd, narrowly missing out on the title in the debut season of the PWHL - Professional Women´s Hockey League.

Even though Minnesota ultimately got to lift the Walter Cup, Theresa Schafzahl can look back on this season with satisfaction. In September 2023, the 24-year-old was selected by Boston with the 39th pick in the first PWHL Draft in history. This alone saw her make Austrian sporting history. In early January, in Boston's first game of the season against Minnesota, she scored the organisation's first-ever goal in the PWHL.

Last April, Theresa Schafzahl bolstered the national team at the home World Championship in Klagenfurt, where she scored a total of four goals. In the PWHL regular season, Schafzahl recorded three goals and three assists, adding a further three assists in the playoffs.

Next season could see her face fellow overseas player Anna Meixner. The national team captain has entered the draft, which will be held in Minnesota in June.
