Family, loved ones, companions, employees, clubs, teams and athletes
Deeply saddened by the news of Dietrich Mateschitz's passing, we, the Austrian Ice Hockey Federation, would like to express our deepest condolences.
As a person, visionary and true sports fan, Dietrich Mateschitz leaves countless gaps in our society – far beyond Austria's borders.
His commitment to Austrian ice hockey was unique. Alongside elite sport in the form of EC Red Bull Salzburg, he was particularly dedicated to youth development. Countless talents have made their way from the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy to various national teams.
The group's own media formats supported domestic ice hockey, not only providing it with a major platform but also driving technical innovation, setting new standards in reporting and delivering exciting content on and off the ice.
At this difficult time, Austrian ice hockey expresses its deep sorrow, solidarity and gratitude.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of a great Austrian, sports fan and supporter.
