"With great expertise, calm authority and a fine feel for the game, he officiated countless matches with confidence, always maintaining the respect of everyone involved. More than 1000 officiated games and assignments at the highest international level speak for themselves," emphasises Gerhard Schiffauer, ÖEHV Referee in Chief, highlighting David Nothegger's outstanding work before continuing:
"His commitment went far beyond simply blowing the whistle. He was a role model for younger colleagues, a valued point of contact in difficult situations and an influential figure in officiating. Even under pressure, he maintained his composure, objectivity and humanity – qualities that distinguish an outstanding referee and athlete. I sincerely thank him for his time, his passion and his tireless commitment to the sport. His contribution will be remembered, and while the referee community loses a great personality, it gains a major role model."
We wish him all the very best for the rest of his professional career and for his time with his family!
