The ÖEHV national team netminder has made 62 appearances for the Capitals to date. The highlight so far was his performance in the quarter-finals of last season against Fehervar, when he recorded two shutouts in the 4:0 series win and impressed with a save percentage of 96,6 per cent.

"Vienna is my home, my family and I have roots here, and the city is simply the centre of my life. Of course, last season was not bad, but I always want and strive for more. That is my nature. I am still very hungry to keep improving. I also want to be a pillar of the team next season, pass on my experience and reach the playoffs with the team. After that, anything can happen," Starkbaum said of his contract extension.
