Surprise team Lustenau

Four teams remain in the battle for the fourth Alps Hockey League title. Defending champions HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana face EHC Lustenau in the semi-finals. The only Austrian team still in contention produced a surprisingly emphatic quarter-final victory over HC Pustertal Wölfe.
Ljubljana and Lustenau, winners of the Austrian AHL championship, also met in the AHL semi-finals in the 2018/19 season. On that occasion, the Slovenian “Dragons” prevailed convincingly with 3:0 wins.
The second semi-final pairing has also previously been contested at this stage. In the inaugural 2016/17 season, Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey narrowly prevailed over HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice with 3:2 wins. This time, the Slovenians enter the tie as slight favourites.
The opening games of the “Best-of-Five” semi-final series will be available to watch live on Thursday at 18:00 and 20:30 on hokejtv.si.
