Superb start! ÖEHV forward Marco Rossi begins the new NHL season with a goal and an assist

Rossi, who signed a three-year contract worth 15 million dollars – around 13 million euros – with Minnesota in August, immediately showed his outstanding form in the first game of the season, away from home in front of 18.096 fans at St. Louis' Enterprise Center. Following Ryan Hartman's goal for 1:0, Rossi, positioned behind Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington's net, set up Matt Boldy's goal to make it 2:0 in the opening period.

In the eighth minute of the final period, the 24-year-old Vorarlberg native made it 5:0 after a rebound from the slot, lifting the puck over Binnington's blocker from close range. Rossi spent a total of 16:28 minutes on the ice and showed superb efficiency with just two shots on goal.

ÖEHV forward Marco Kasper was held scoreless in his Detroit Red Wings' 1:5 defeat to the Montréal Canadiens. The Klagenfurt native, who received a two-minute penalty in the opening period, spent a total of 14:41 minutes on the ice and recorded one shot on goal, one blocked shot and five hits. Kasper finished with a -2 in the plus/minus statistics.
