Successful World Championship warm-up: U18 women beat Norway 2:0

Next Monday, Austria's U18 Women's Ice Hockey National Team will begin its mission to earn promotion to the Top Division. In their final test before the World Championship, they recorded a 2:0 win over Norway in Ritten, Italy, where the World Championship will also take place. They will face the Scandinavians again in their final World Championship game on 15 January.

The Austrians made a good start to the game and deservedly took a 1:0 lead through Zoey Hobitsch in the twelfth minute. The team looked very mobile on the ice, maintained a high tempo throughout and were able to keep Norway under control.

At the start of the second period, the players showed the effects of the intensive training programme of recent days. They were slow out of the blocks and needed some time to properly get into the game again. Gradually, they took control once more. Newly appointed captain Lena Artner finally made it 2:0 in the 38th minute to provide some breathing space.

Despite good chances in the final period, the score remained 2:0.
