Strengthening coaches, fostering development: ÖEHV partners with Coach Them

This collaboration marks an important step in the continued development of Austrian ice hockey, with the aim of supporting coaches through modern tools, simplifying practice processes and promoting player development nationwide.

A shared vision for coaching
For years, ÖEHV has consistently worked to advance Austrian ice hockey through education, inclusion and sustainable development. By focusing on targeted support for coaches and easily accessible resources, it is creating a strong foundation for the next generation of players.
This vision aligns with CoachThem’s mission: empowering coaches with intuitive, web-based tools that save time, create consistency and help teams realise their full potential. Together, ÖEHV and CoachThem are bringing greater structure, innovation and efficiency to Austrian ice hockey coaching.
A modern tool for all coaches in Austria
As part of this partnership, licensed ÖEHV coaches will receive discounted access to CoachThem’s professional practice-planning tools via a voucher code – the same platform already used by 15 NHL teams and more than 250 ice hockey organisations worldwide.
With CoachThem, coaches can:
• draw ice hockey-specific drills digitally,
• create and organise practice plans professionally,
• share content directly with teams and colleagues,
• access thousands of drills and systems from the professional game,
• and access them on the ice at any time via the mobile iOS app.
These tools help save time, promote collaboration and establish a consistent training philosophy across all age groups – from grassroots level to the professionals.
Strengthening Austria’s coaching network
Florian Mühlstein, ÖEHV Head of Education and Development, emphasises the long-term significance of this cooperation: "By implementing CoachThem within the Austrian Ice Hockey Association, we are creating a stronger foundation for exchange in practice management. Transparency across age groups enables us to establish an internal coach-the-coach programme.
