Squad named for Deutschland Cup
For the third time after 2022 and 2023, Austria's men's national ice hockey team will compete in the prestigious Deutschland Cup during the November break. From 7–10 November, they will take on Slovakia, Denmark and hosts Germany in Landshut (GER), with all matches broadcast live on ORF SPORT +. Head Coach Roger Bader has named 25 players for the tournament.

“We always field a relatively young team in November. At the same time, 14 players who were also involved at the World Championship in Prague are included,” said the Head Coach about his selection. The 14 players are David Kickert, Dominique Heinrich, David Maier, Ramon Schnetzer, Paul Stapelfeldt, Clemens Unterweger, Bernd Wolf, Kilian Zündel, Benjamin Baumgartner, Lukas Haudum, Paul Huber, Vinzenz Rohrer, Lucas Thaler and Ali Wukovits.
“We have a good mix of experienced players and candidates for the 2025 World Championship who want to, and can, show what they can do. Some experienced players who are not involved now are planned for the February break,” Roger Bader went on to explain.
In addition to the 14 players named who were already involved at the last World Championship, Nico Feldner, Henrik Neubauer, Simeon Schwinger and Patrick Obrist are further players with World Championship experience. The latter was part of Austria's squad in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Alongside him, Benjamin Baumgartner, Vinzenz Rohrer and Bernd Wolf, there are no fewer than four Swiss-based players in the squad. Gregor Biber is also included, a U20 national team player and Austria's most recent NHL draft pick, having been drafted by Utah in 98th position on 29 June 2024 when he was still 17 years old. Biber made his senior national team debut in the spring during preparations for the 2024 World Championship.
