Squad confirmed for Three-Nations Tour­na­ment in Bolzano / Austria to face Germany in December

“In exactly one year, we will compete in the Top Division for the first time. That means we have one year to prepare for it. We need to get the players fit and continue working on our playbook. Our goal is to develop from one team camp to the next so that we can compete at the World Championship in a year’s time,” explains Head Coach Alexander Bröms, who led the team unbeaten to the IIHF Women’s World Championship Division IA title and promotion to the Top Division last spring.

At the upcoming team camp, the Swede will also be able to count on captain Anna Meixner. The Salzburg native will lead the team on the ice as usual in the two warm-up matches against Norway and Italy. Apart from PWHL player Annika Fazokas and Leonie Kutzer of EV Zug (SUI), Gloria Henek of EHC Winterthur (SUI), and Anja Trummer of the Zürich Lions (SUI), the squad consists exclusively of players from the domestic win2day Austrian Women´s Hockey League and three more from the DEBL.

A total of 13 players from the successful World Championship team will also be in Italy.

Double-header against Germany in December

The action continues in December with two high-profile games. Austria will first face their neighbours away in Memmingen on Saturday, 13 December, followed by a home game in Dornbirn on Sunday, 14 December.

Germany will also be an opponent at next year’s World Championship, while the DEB selection, like Italy, is also preparing for the 2026 Olympic Games.
