Simeon Schwinger called up for the World Championship
The 24-year-old replaces Dominic Zwerger, who is not yet 100 per cent fit following the hit by Moritz Seider in the final warm-up game against Germany. While Zwerger is already on his way home, Simeon Schwinger joined the national team on Thursday evening.

“As head coach, there are things you cannot influence. This is one such situation. We are looking ahead and wish Dominic a speedy recovery,” says Head Coach Roger Bader as focused as ever.
With Dominic Zwerger, the national team loses a young player who has earned his place under Roger Bader in recent years. He took a heavy hit from Moritz Seider in the game against Germany. Dizziness was the result, but everything initially suggested that this was only temporary and that he would be fit for the World Championship. In Tampere, it became apparent that Zwerger was not yet 100 per cent fit following the hit. The Swiss-based player therefore travelled home for health reasons.
Simeon Schwinger, a forward one year his junior, comes into the squad after always impressing when called up. The 24-year-old now gets his chance after taking part in the entire World Championship preparation from week two onwards and scoring the 2:1 opening goal in the 4:1 win over Poland.
Head Coach Roger Bader: “I am convinced that Simeon will represent Dominic Zwerger superbly. This change does not alter anything in our planning. The team is working with great focus and we are looking forward to the start of the World Championship next Saturday.”
